Classes offered for ages 2 through adult include acrobatics, ballet, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, pointe, tap, pre-dance and wee-dance. Classes are one hour long and meet once a week from September through May. Pre-dance is for children 3-5 years old and is 20 minutes of tap, 20 minutes of acrobatics and 20 minutes of ballet. Wee-dance is a class for 2-3 year olds. An adult takes the class with the child. Wee-Dance meets for 45 minutes once a week.

We have 4 studios and offer day and evening classes. Each studio offers the opportunity for parents to watch the lesson through convenient viewing windows. Class size is restricted.

We currently have 11 teachers on our staff. All teachers use dance terminology (the real names of the steps). All teachers are involved in continuing dance education. As they continue to train, they have the opportunity to stay current with dance styles.

We train dancers to move every part of their body; but in a proper and tasteful manner. Our goal is to honor and please God in our choice of music, dress and movement.

Classes start in September and run through May. In June we do a series of one week dance camps, Monday through Thursday. Dance Camp is a good way to hone skills, or try a new style.

Dance In The Light is a performing arts studio. At Christmas time we offer performance opportunities. Our older dancers will do a show in the mall. Pre & Wee Dancers have the opportunity to perform at various nursing homes and on stage at the Kankakee Jr. High School. These shows are performed in practice clothes and no costume is required. During this season we are thankful to have the opportunity to tell people of the joy and peace Jesus gives. In December we put on 11 shows. Dance in the Light's students perform in a full costumed show on stage in May. The show is usually done at the Lincoln Cultural Center, Kankakee. Students will dance in one show. We also have a performance company, "in His steps". "in His steps" performs at nursing homes, variety shows, schools, churches, special events, etc. They are available for entertainment. Call the studio if you need a show (a free will offering is accepted).

We hold open registration. The dance school year runs from September through May.

It is understood when you enroll that you are enrolling for the school year. Except for Wee-dance, all classes are one hour in length and meet once per week. We have an annual registration fee per student to enroll. This fee is non-refundable. We offer a multiple class discount and family members are priced as a family, not as individuals. Tuition is considered an annual fee, divided into 9 equal payments due the first class of each month.

We try to keep the recital costume costs to a minimum; to that end, we need to order early. Since we have to pay for costumes when they are ordered, we ask for the costume to be paid in full at time of registration. Costume cost is non-refundable.
